Injured in a car accident? Confused and discouraged about getting a fair insurance settlement for your injury? At Panter, Panter & Sampedro, P.A., in Miami, Florida, our lawyers help clients recover personal injury protection benefits (PIP) for their medical expenses and lost wages.

Do not sign an insurance settlement document without consulting with an attorney . If you would like to talk about your accident with a PIP attorney, contact our office and make arrangements for a free consultation. In many cases, we are able to identify more than one party responsible for covering your expenses, and have a record of successful verdicts and settlements

Florida Is a No Fault Insurance State.

At our Miami personal injury firm, we feel it is important to help our clients understand their legal rights and avoid problems. We have prepared a printable folding brochure you can keep in your car, including a form to use in case of an accident: What Automobile Insurance Do I Need?. Below are summaries of personal injury protection benefits available under Florida law.

No-fault insurance and optional coverage summaries:

  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which partially reimburses you and your family for medical expenses and lost wages resulting from an auto accident, regardless of fault
  • Underinsured / Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM Insurance), optional insurance you may carry which pays for your losses if the other driver is at fault and is uninsured or does not carry adequate insurance
  • Med Pay, optional insurance that pays the portion of your medical bills not paid by PIP
  • Property Damage, mandatory coverage you carry on your auto to cover damage to another vehicle
  • Bodily Injury, optional (recommended) insurance which pays when you are at fault for another's pain and suffering
  • Collision , optional coverage that pays for damage to your vehicle following an accident

What should you do if you are in an accident? [link to client provided printable brochure What automobile insurance do I need?]

  • At the scene of the accident, contact the police and get the other driver's insurance and identification information (see brochure for a form to keep in your car).
  • If you even suspect injury, get medical attention.
  • Call the police or highway department when you get home and get a copy of the accident report.
  • Do not sign any insurance settlement offers without consulting with a lawyer. Contact Panter, Panter & Sampedro, P.A., for a free consultation at our offices in Miami. Personal injury protection benefits may be only part of the compensation you deserve.
